Auditions Call!!

Well, and here we go again!!

The Actors Studio have once again agreed to stage the latest in this ongoing series of musical creations that focus on Malaysia and her characters.

Going out in January 2012, MAT SALLEH! THE MUSICAL COMEDY is a standard song and dance story about a newly arrived expatriate to Malaysian shores and his journey (odyssey?) of learning to adapt and love the wonderful craziness that is uniquely Malaysian.

Previous shows were BROADWAY PARODIES LAH!, BROADWAY PARODIES LAGI LAH! and MAMAK MEE-AH! All produced by The Actors Studio.

The show again is very character driven, and the call is going out for triple threat performers and wannabees to come forward and try out for the parts. Auditions are on 5th, 6th and 7th September at Studio 5 at KLPac from 7pm to 10pm. Please liaise with Ines at ines@theactorsstudio.com.my or by phone at 03-2143 2009.

Can also leave contact details here or to me at gwailoah@gmail.com and I can forward to Ines.

AUDITION RULES
Singing: One song in English from a Stage Musical that showcases your vocal strength. Ability to harmonise a major plus. Please bring a CD in your preferred key. No accapella auditions. Need to hear if you can sing in tempo.

Acting: one to two minute monologue that showcases character and voice. Be prepared to adlib.

Movement: need to see that you have bodily rhythm and can move well across a stage.

Tips for successful auditions

PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THE RULES. This shows you pay attention.

PLEASE BRING A THEATRE BIO. It helps us remember you.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BACKING MUSIC CD. This shows you can be organised. If no CD, then improvise. Talent will always find a way.

STAY POSITIVE - There are only twelve spots available. Not everyone can get one. Us saying no does not mean failure, just that we can't see how to fit you into the show at this time. Bear in mind that things can change. Initial selections sometimes drop out and strong second and third choices get the call and the gig. Remember there is always a long term. If not this show, then maybe the next. Stay positive. We all learn from auditions.
